Trees Are Lungs This collection of encaustic paintings were created entirely out of wood scraps salvaged from the renovation of my warehouse studio and whatever paper scraps happened to be on my desk at the moment. For a long time I had been sketching ideas for an advertising campaign about the value of trees in our daily lives; as carbon sinks, emitters of all-important oxygen, and source materials for paper and building materials. Those sketches were added to the paintings so that I could see them daily, and meditate on them, allowing them to continue to inform me. |
